Velocity Village Mining Camp
The 184 room facility called Velocity Village was the dream of Kevin Hughes, a developer with almost 40 years of experience. He wanted to make the best possible accommodation for workers in the Pilbara where they can be comfortable and enjoy every part of their stay. It is one of only two IPL4 Cyclone Rated accommodation facilities in Karratha.
The Issue
The newly built mining camp required a wireless network to provide internet access to the guests staying within the accommodation areas and to provide wireless connectivity to the Foxtel BiQ (Video Streaming and Foxtel Management) units within each of the rooms.
The Challenges
The main challenge was getting a wireless signal into the rooms as they were constructed from steel to ensure the IPL4 Cyclone rating.
The Solution
A wireless network was installed to provide internet access to the guests staying at Velocity Village mining camp accommodation.
The Ruijie Reyee RG-ES218GC-P 18-Port and RG-ES226GC-P 26-port Managed PoE Switch connected to the RG-RAP2200 (E) AC1300 Dual Band WiFi Access Points to provide internet to the rooms.
The Enterprise-level Ruijie Reyee switches are designed for SMB and support full-power PoE output to ensure that all devices can be powered simultaneously when connected to the switch at maximum capacity.
The Reyee RG-RAP2200(E) is a high-performance ceiling mount indoor WiFi access point for commercial environments providing up to 1.3 Gbps of WiFi throughput. The new and improved mounting kits support a variety of installation methods for desktop, ceiling, wall, and pole mounts, which significantly improves installation options, simplifying the installation.
Configured and managed via the Ruijie Cloud App, the RG-RAP2200(E) features auto-discovery and provisioning, self-organisation (SON), self-configuration, user access and system management.
The Outcome
Speed test result to the internet, connecting through the wireless network on a mobile phone achieved 626 Mbps download with 572 Mbps upload.
