The client was an engineering company that had poor internet speeds and no mobile coverage throughout the sheds that they operated the business, they required a reliable connectivity solution to meet their business needs.
Installation Challenges
The biggest challenge was that the business premise was not in the direct path of the broadcast tower. There was also no line of sight due to quite a large obstruction in the path to the tower.
The Issue
The business reached out to Powertec’s client Edge ICT who is a member of the Leading Edge Retail Group one of Powertec’s largest clients. They were seeking better mobile coverage as they were constantly having calls dropping out or missing calls altogether, which was not great for business.
The Products
Edge ICT worked closely with Powertec to establish required materials, Powertec recommended the Blackhawk Narrowband Grid Antenna with Cel-Fi GO mounted at 20m from the ground.
On the data/internet side of things, Powertec recommended the 5G M2000 Cellferno mounted on a Blackhawk roof-mounted slimline tower 20m off the ground to give a clear line of sight to a 5G tower 7.01km away, mounting this high did not affect signal due to the Cellferno running Cat6 cable down to the clients switch and having the sim card inserted in the Cellferno.
The Solution
The business now has great mobile coverage throughout the shed with 100mbps speeds on 4G on mobile devices that previously struggled to even hold a call on 3G. The Cellferno received a good 5G 3600Mhz signal & achieved 175mbps into the client switch/network. The business can now operate on high speed 5G internet & mobile devices seamlessly to make and receive calls with no issues within the shed/premises.
