4×4 MIMO antennas are required to deliver high speed 4G LTE-A Pro and 5G NR connectivity. 4×4 MIMO delivers twice the data speed of 2×2 MIMO antennas. This is done by employing four independent and uncorrelated antenna elements.
The technology is currently in use by all mobile network operators in Australia on 4G LTE bands B1 (2100 MHz), B3 (1800 MHz), and B7 (2600 MHz) in LTE-Advanced Pro areas. 5G Mid-Band transmitters also require 4×4 MIMO over the 3.5 GHz n78 band to deliver the high-speed connectivity touted by operators.
