CEL-FI WAVE for Mobile

If you have launched the CEL-FI WAVE app but it continues to sync…

Please verify the following:

  • Make sure your CEL-FI Booster is powered on and in relay mode (see the product support pages for your CEL-FI booster).
  • Ensure you have the latest version of the WAVE app installed
  • Make sure that your mobile device is compatible. The app requires Bluetooth 4.1, Android 5 or newer and iOS 8 or newer.

If the problem persists, force the app to close (see the iOS or Androidinstructions) reboot your CEL-FI system and re-launch the CEL-FI WAVE app next to your Coverage Unit.

In some cases, regulatory bodies and or mobile network operators may require users to register their signal booster.

The information collected during registration includes user contact information, the address where the booster is used, booster make, model and serial number. This information will enable the carrier to contact users or locate the booster in the event of network issues. Any information collected through this program will be used as described above and is subject the CEL-FI’s Privacy Policy.

The WAVE app requires an internet connection to successfully register a system. This is more of an issue when installing CEL-FI GO X’s where there might be a poor network signal and no Wi-Fi available. If there is no data coverage available you cannot register the product. Unfortunately the first time connecting (and registering) requires a cellular connection. Once this has been accomplished, you may be able to operate with our coverage as the app can work in an ‘off-line’ mode.

You may have to take the booster and register it elsewhere and then bring it back to the site.

This is an optional step and is only asked the first time you open the WAVE app. This latitude/longitude data is used by the mobile network operators to help locate the booster in the event of network issues.

The CEL-FI WAVE App is designed for end users, installers and channel partners. The app is available on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. It connects via Bluetooth to the CEL-FI PRO, CEL-FI DUO+, CEL-FI PRIME and CEL-FI GO.

CEL-FI QUATRA uses the Nextivity’s WAVE platform to perform management and reporting functions. To facilitate this, the CEL-FI QUATRA Network Unit is connected to the internet through the install site LAN. Typical data payload is around 2kbps once per hour (system health data) or can increase temporarily during software updates or for remote troubleshooting. Commissioning requires this internet connection, even if temporary. Ping (ICMP) is not supported.

The WAVE system requires the following networking access:

  • HTTPS on port 443
  • DNS (standard port for DNS is 53)
  • DHCP (standard port for DHCP is 67)
  • NTP (standard port for NTP is 123)

Currently we are using pool.ntp.org, but an additional Nextivity NTP server will be added in the future. Connections are always initiated from the device side. There is no need to configure any inbound ports on the firewall, thereby reducing exposure to external threats. To achieve both these attributes and still remain responsive to external commands, QUATRA uses Websockets. Websockets is a lightweight IETF protocol that is built on top of HTTP and establishes persistent TCP connections between a client and server. Since the connection is initiated on client side and uses regular HTTPS, typically no special inbound firewall configuration is needed, yet commands can be delivered to the device in real-time.
