HOW DOES IT WORK?
This study is an analysis of 3G UMTS and 4G LTE transmissions in receivable range of a location identified by the client.
The analysis makes use of industry standard radio propagation software which uses computational models to calculate signal strength estimates based on transmitter heights, frequency, distance, terrain, interference, and numerous other factors. The software generates a three-dimensional heat map representing signal strength levels, colour coded from red (strong) to purple (weak), and areas with no colour representing those with no signal.
As the software only estimates signal strengths from each cell tower, the technician must then inspect the transmission path in identification of non-terrain obstructions such as buildings and vegetation that will further deteriorate signal levels. The technician will use a combination of theoretical estimates and practical understanding of radio propagation to account for these additional factors.
Recommendations are then made as to the most suitable antenna type, along with a compass or map bearing and an estimation on required installation height. Additional suggestions can be made regarding cabling and interconnections if the client has identified a particular device they wish to connector, or a general problem they wish to solve.
