iTWire is Australia’s most read independent technology news source. With 327,505 (Nielsen SiteCensus) visitors a month, iTWire has 70,000+ subscribers to it’s daily IT&T newsletter, the top IT and Telecommunications people in Australia.
Powertec recently contacted iTWire in response to their reporting on illegal boosters on the back of the ACMA’s (Australian Communications and Media Authority) mass advertising to eliminate this scurge of the mobile ‘airwaves.’ Unfortunately the ACMA does not have a remit to recommend a legal alternative so they are not able to guide their readers in the right direction.
We were able to provide journalist Alex Zaharov-Reutt with the technical and legal information for him to review the product.
CEL-FI has released the CEL-FI Pro for Telstra – a 3/4G/4GX/HSPA/LTE signal booster for its 700 and 1800MHz networks. Does it work? YES (apologies to Optus).
It also works with Aldi, Boost, Telechoice, Think Mobile and any Telstra reseller. In fact, CEL-FI has signal boosters for Optus 3G (900/2100MHz), Vodafone 3G (900/2100MHz), and many other carriers. On 21 August iTWire colleague Alex Zaharov-Reutt published a warning from ACMA on mobile repeaters – the good, bad and the ugly prompting CEL-FI to get in touch with iTWire to explain that its repeater – a radio telecommunications device – was fully certified by Telstra (CEL-FI-P34-03/5/28) for use on Telstra networks. it also provided one for review. So it is all legal and it works a treat.Read the full article by Alex Zaharov-Reutt HERE.Note that the CEL-FI PRO for Optus has now been released with the PRO version for Vodafone to follow. Powertec Telecommunications is able to refer you to certified local mobile coverage experts who are able to assist with installation and consulting for CEL-FI legal repeaters.
