Cybersecurity – Are Your Checks in Place?

Posted on

The year 2016 saw a rise in cyber-attacks, both ransomware and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) on small and large corporations globally. 49%* of companies were subjected to some form of cyber-ransom attack in 2016. Major DDoS attacks compromised many websites including prominent ones such as Twitter, Netflix, PayPal, and Pinterest. Yahoo was hit with the biggest data breach in history with information being stolen from 500 million user accounts.

Cybersecurity Attacks are expected to rise in 2017

The top concerns listed by IT professionals in order of priority were: i) Data loss (27%) ii) Service outage (19%) iii) Reputation loss (16%) and iv) Customer or partner loss (9%)

According to a recent report by Forbes on cybersecurity risks in Asia-pacific in 2017, DDoS attacks will be an increasing threat to businesses in Singapore. In October 2016, local Telco StarHub was hit by a DDoS attack which led to an outage in broadband services of the customers.

Though the attacks are increasing, 40% of businesses do not have an incident response plan in place. While all attacks cannot be prevented, it is important to implement systems to notify internal and external stakeholders immediately to minimize disruption in case of unplanned system downtime. Failure to respond quickly can result in the loss of costly investments, opportunities as well as the reputation and customer loss.

The sendQuick range of solutions offered by TalariaX address critical IT business requirements to minimize disruption during unplanned system downtime and provide security and confidentiality of sensitive business data.

sendQuick Alert Plus will instantly notify the IT team via SMS text in event of any incident (e.g. interruption in power supply, the email server is down, intrusion in firewall or malware attack, etc.).

The increasing cyber-attacks have also highlighted the need for companies to secure remote access for their employees as well as customers.

To add an extra layer of security while accessing sensitive data, sendQuick’s Conexa provides a 2-factor authentication (2FA) solution. It has a built-in SMS One Time Password (OTP) server, Soft Token and Email OTP with Authentication and Authorisation (AA) capability, Radius server and an SMS transmission engine, all built in a single appliance.

The sendQuick platform can easily integrate with your existing enterprise network management system giving you control over your IT infrastructure.
