Important Information about CEL-FI Band 2600MHz (Band 7)

It has come to our attention that there may be instances where phones are preferring to use a very low 4G2600 signal, instead of a boosted 4G signal CEL-FI is providing on another band.

This can occur with CEL-FI products that do not support the 4G2600 band.

It may result in the user’s phone not seeing any signal improvement on 4G or not being able to make/place calls.

CEL-FI Systems

 Phone Model

  • Most current phones (that 4G2600 support)

History

Recently the operators have started to roll out more towers that support 4G2600 in urban areas. This is due to the band having capacity for a larger number of users and also great data throughput. The network has a preference to push customers to this band due to these factors by default even if the signal is quite low. So you could experience your phone bars dropping when standing near a window due to switching to 4G2600.

Recommendation

We request that you discover if band 7 is going to be in use at the required site and then do further investigation of phone models.  We also suggest that you make sure the client is aware so that they can make a decision moving forward before they purchase the unit.

Customer notification statement

“Powertec Telecommunications has detected a minor compatibility error that could occur between CEL-FI systems and some current mobile phones. This issue only affects band 7, or 2600MHz band. Please note, by switching to a different band you should not experience any call quality issues.”

Troubleshooting solution:

Step 1: Turn your phone flight mode setting ON, and then OFF again. This will prompt your phone to search and relock onto the stronger band signal.

Step 2: If you continue to experience functionality issues with your CEL-FI system, please lodge a ticket with Powertec’s support team here: https://support.powertec.com.au/hc/en-us/requests/new
