Maryborough Telecommunications Ruijie

Maryborough Telecommunications partners with Telstra to offer a customer-focused experience for all communication and entertainment needs. The client was a residential user living on a large rural property with major connectivity issues.

The Issue

The residential customer was living on a large rural property was lacking mobile coverage, particularly around their dam area where their kids would often play. The customer wanted to be able to maintain contact with his kids who would constantly be playing at the dam which is 250m from the house through trees where there is no Wi-Fi or 3G/4G, it was a major safety concern for the customer.

Challenges

The distance from the house and the thick trees meant that there was no clear line of sight, plus there was no power at the dam.

The Solution

Rob from Maryborough Telecommunications worked with Powertec to identify the installation challenges so that the team could make an appropriate recommendation. The Ruijie EAP602 outdoor Access Point was the ideal solution providing long-range Wi-Fi to the dam. This was also more cost-effective than utilising alternative 4G options.

The customer can now browse, stream and make calls over Wi-Fi around the house as well as provide coverage over the 250m+ distance through trees to the dam for the kids to be able to call over Wi-Fi if there is an emergency.

The Product

The Ruijie EAP602 Outdoor Access Point was used to provide an outdoor Wi-Fi network. The RG-EAP602 is a high-power outdoor omnidirectional dual-band wireless access point supporting 802.11b/g/n/ac. With concurrent 2.4GHz and 5GHz, the AP supports dual-band dual-stream MIMO technology, which provides up to 300Mbps at 2.4GHz, 867Mbps at 5GHz and up to 1167Mbps per AP. The built-in omnidirectional high-gain antennas provide excellent coverage for the users with a 300m coverage radius.
